Winter Solstice

Things will only get brighter from here on in. After the longest night and the shortest day of the year, we are ready for the return of the warm sun. Here in Nova Scotia we've still got a few more months of winter to look forward to, but the very lengthening of the days is warming to the soul, and the winter sun is intense; when the wind dies down, it can be very pleasant and warm in the afternoons. Right now tho, the winds are blowin' a fearsome gale and despite the fact that we're running two wood stoves at full blast, this drafty old house is freezing cold. By this time next year I'd like to be in a smaller, more easily heated, possibly dug-out home in the woods... For now, we'll keep tending the fires and bundle up even more than usual. Stay Warm and Be Well!
